Oldest Croatian national park is a unique string of 16 blue-green lakes whose water is brought by numerous small rivers and creeks and are connected through waterfalls and cascades of tuff barriers.

Situated in the beautiful woods of continental Croatia, Plitvice lakes are near the main road to Adriatic which makes them the most popular excursion site for both local people and tourists that are left breathless by its natural beauty and diversity of flora and fauna. Plitvice lakes contain a lot of beautiful waterfalls, lakes and caves. The lakes are divided into upper and lower lakes. Upper lakes lie in a dolomite valley while lower lakes lie on a limestone bedrock.

The national park is very fauna rich with dozens of animal species including animals such as eagle owl, wolf, brown bear any many other. Plitvice Lakes was one of the first natural sites added to the Unesco World Heritage Register.
