Plitvice lakes
Oldest Croatian national park.
Situated in
the beautiful woods of continental Croatia, Plitvice lakes are near the
main road to Adriatic which makes them the most popular excursion site
for both local people and tourists that are left breathless by its
natural beauty and diversity of flora and fauna. Plitvice lakes contain a
lot of beautiful waterfalls, lakes and caves. The lakes are divided
into upper and lower lakes. Upper lakes lie in a dolomite valley while
lower lakes lie on a limestone bedrock.
The national park is very fauna
rich with dozens of animal species including animals such as eagle owl,
wolf, brown bear any many other. Plitvice Lakes was one of the first
natural sites added to the Unesco World Heritage Register.
